To honor Children's Hospital Colorado and its staff for their extraordinary care, my husband and I are running the Rocky Mountain Half Marathon to fundraise for the hospital and its continued legacy to current and future generations of children.
As a mother of two children, Emory (4) and Devon (2), Children's Colorado has been our unwavering support for births, illnesses and diagnostic testing. Our children have each had extended visits in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) like so many in recent years as waves of illnesses have impacted us all. Their doctors, nurses and staff are exceptional in not only patient care, but care for the whole family. We are beyond grateful to Children's Colorado for bringing joy to our children in the hardest of times, providing comfort through fear and sending our children home healthy and safe.
Growing up I was in and out of the hospital in my elementary school years with meningitis, a double hernia and several surgeries – and as a result developed extreme anxiety for hospitals, doctors, nurses, and all things medical. My gratitude for the patience, understanding and care of all those who were a part of my childhood medical journey is profound – and as a parent looking through the eyes of my children, it is immeasurable. To exemplify the reach and impact Children's Colorado has on so many lives, it was selected by the Clients of my financial practice for our philanthropic focus for 2024. A true testament to the meaning it carries in so many households, including my own.
