Lyra is turning 3 and we are super excited. For those of you who are new to our journey, this is Lyra's story:
Lyra was born on May 11, 2015 in the DC area. We were expecting a healthy, full term, baby girl. Things quickly went wrong and we had no idea why. By the time she was eight weeks old we were on our third hospitalization and she was recovering from her first emergency surgery. That was when we got her genetic diagnosis.
Lyra has two rare chromosome disorders that have never been seen together. After receiving this diagnosis my husband and I decided to move to Colorado to be close to family. That is how we ended up at Children's Hospital of Colorado, and I am so grateful we did.
Over the next 8 months Lyra was hospitalized 7 more times, had an additional emergency surgery, and a long list of tests. We cannot even begin to describe how grateful we are for the hard work the doctors, nurses, social workers, case managers, volunteers, etc put in to help our family.
To honor them, and to show how grateful we are to have a happy HAPPY stable little girl, we would like to give back to the hospital that has given us so much.
