I moved to Denver in 2014 for the end of my medical training at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO). It would become the beginning of my new journey - starting a family.
My soon to be wife, was an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at CHCO. Her dedication to arguably the most fragile patients in the hospital and love for her calling was inspiring. I learned to model my work ethic and efficiency from her to provide the highest quality patient care to the "littlest folks.”
Upon completion of my fellowship I had already benefited greatly from CHCO - mentorship from world class faculty, use of state of the art facilities, and of course the friendships I created. But never would I have imagined that our own future children would also be positively impacted by my very own training site.
Our daughter, Ana, would be operated on by an Ears Nose Throat surgeon with amazing skills, but what’s more, exemplary bedside manner. Our second son, Nico, would later be hospitalized at 8 days of life in a very stressful time. He is now thriving.
As you can see, I have great appreciation for what Children’s has done for my family and career. The Courage Classic is an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for other children like our own. Please join me in this great cause!
