Myles was born with a rare mitochondrial disorder that his parents, some of my best friends, were not aware of until his symptoms presented on his first birthday. Thanks to the phenomenal doctors at Children's Hospital Colorado, he was diagnosed within twenty four hours of arriving at the hospital that day.
With that devastating but incredibly important diagnosis, his parents -- and the friends and family and community that rallied around them -- were able to focus on ensuring Myles lived out the rest of his life in comfort and surrounded by love. The Miles for Myles team is riding to support the Hospital and care providers that gave us clarity and support in the most challenging months of our lives and to honor the little boy who made the lives of all those around him so much brighter.
