You know I'm always up for a challenge and thus will be riding again in this year's Courage Classic - raising funds for Children's Hospital Colorado.
When Will was inpatient at Children's, impossibly more than four years ago now, I was immediately interested in participatiing in this amazing event but life had other plans for us. And then COVID. And then a breast cancer diagnosis for myself. A series of "WTF" moments that seem to have no end. But neither does the need to support Children's and all they do for kids, teens and young adults. And so I ride....
I am part of a team that specifically raises funds for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. The work they do there is personal. And while we are no longer familiar faces there I think our time there left a mark. It certainly did on me. I think of all the kids who are tucked into those rooms on the 7th floor, just as we were, and I have to keep going for them.
WillStrong Cancer Foundation is a sponsor for our team so I'm even more excited to ride this year! WillStrong continues to fund research and other much-needed support projects at Children's and has thus far donated more than $325,000 in support of our mission with another $300,000 pledged in the next few years. But there is always more to do!
I will ride two 80-mile days in the high-country of Colorado. Gaining elevation, strength and with your help...funds! There is always a little more to give and so I ask for your support once again. I will ride for Will and every other young person who should be here and for every other young person who fights to stay.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and to consider donating to my ride.
Always WillStrong - we never give up.
