I ride to support the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital Colorado.
The CCBD unit at Children's saved my life!
You see, three years ago, at the age of 9, I was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), blood cancer. I went from being a happy, healthy 9 year old boy, a competative gymnast who spent hours at the gym to a little boy with a very serious illness. My life changed in an instant! We learned that I would need a Bone Marrow Transplant. Little did we know that I would need a second bone marrow transplant after the first failed. Despite the many days in the hospital, I always knew I had the best medical care possible. My doctors, nurses, therapistes, child life specialists, and entire medical staff took such great care of me...they seemed to always know just what to do! I knew they really cared about me and wanted the best for me. They did their best to help me still live the life of a kid despite being isolated in the cancer ward. They became like family! I am so thankful for my medical team and the incredible care they have shown me! I am happy to report that I am now a part of the HOPE Clinic at Children's as a survivor! I have been cancer free for two and a half years! I am back pursuing my passion in gymnastics as well as aeronautics and just able to be a kid again! This is all thanks to my incredible medical team in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital Colorado!
I will be riding in the Courage Classic Bike Tour to support other kids just like me. I will not be the last child to face a life-threatening illness and my family will not be the last to navigate a frightening diagnosis.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for kids like me to give them the opportunity to not just survive but thrive.
Will you consider joining me in raising money to support this incredible cause as a thank you for the people that saved my life?!
