My 5-year old grandson, Bode, made me do it! I wasn't planning to ride in this year's Courage Classic on July 20-21 to support Children's Hospital of Colorado, but Bode convinced me otherwise. He said, "Papa you have to join the team (Cardiac Climbers) to raise money for the hospital and the heart program." How could I say no?
Bode even convinced my son and his wife to participate! So, this year it's a family affair. I made the kids promise not to leave me behind as we ride the 80 mile route and scale Vail Pass.
What's most amazing to me is that my grandson now understands what CHC and the Cardiac Institute meant to him. As you know, he was born with major heart issues and spent the first two months of his life in the hospital. They saved his life!
