Last year I got a text from my long time friend, Sean Dow, that he was all in for the Courage Classic. A guy who cracked jokes for years about my spandex and road riding, was in. He bought a bike, trained and got himself ready for the 2 day event in Summit County Colorado. He crushed it in typical Sean fashion. My wife, Michelle Bishop, who also had zero cycling event experience also crushed the 2 day course. Her tenacity and grit on the course, was so fun to watch.
I ride to give hope to Children's Hospital Colorado patients with children like our daughter who was born with Down Syndrome. With the help of the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at the Children's Hospital, we are able to have some of the worlds experts work on research and patient treatment to improve her life, but many others in our community. The Sie Center directly impacts cutting-edge discoveries from their research lab and use that with patients in the clinical setting.
I ride for our daughter who has fast become a toddler that has a blossoming personality, tenacity to move and learn and has an infectious smile and laugh. She is the center of our world and my wife Michelle Bishop and I are so lucky to be her parents.
We are also lucky to be able to call you our friends and colleagues. Your support for our family through the last couple of years has meant the world to us. She is a beacon of light and we are inspired by her to ride in this year's 2 day event in July. We invite you to join our team to ride or if you cannot, to donate to our team. The funds go directly to the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Childrens Hospital and are matched by most companies 2:1 match as well.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
Thank you so much for your time, talent and treasure. We cannot wait to see you at the starting line in Copper Mt in July or your name on the donation leaderboard. If you have not ridden before, have an itch or have always wanted to ride some of the most beautiful terrain in the US…..be a Sean…..be a Michelle and take that chance.
Much love,
Kyle, Michelle and Siena
