I get to work with some very incredible children at Children’s Hospital Colorado Springs, Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Children whose lives have been irrevocably changed by a cancer diagnosis but who refuse to let that diagnosis define them. Children who thrive despite hardships and trials. Children who greet each morning with a smile despite their pain and fatigue. Children who inspire me to be the very best that I can be. It is my privilege to walk alongside them during their journey: to laugh with them, talk with them, cry with them and to hope with them. They and their families honor me with their questions, pain, anxiety; but most humbling of all: their trust in us that we, as their medical team, will help them conquer this disease and emerge on the other side victorious and thriving.
I have joined the Colorado Springs team, Courage from the Springs, a group of individuals from all walks of life who participate in the Children’s Hospital Colorado Courage Classic Bicycle Tour to support care for children locally. This year, on July 16th and 7th, we will be conquering mountain passes in an effort to raise funds that will help create a brighter future for children.
Please consider donating today and join me in this small but mighty way to help these kids continue to be who they are meant to be: Fighters. Survivors. Warriors. Superheroes.
