I ride this year to support the countless burn patients i see everyday that exemplify courage and strength.
As a clinician on our burn team and the director of our burn camps program I have the priviliedge of meeting children and their families during a very traumatic moment and being a part of their healing journey.
Burn injuries are painful and require immediate and often intensive treatments. Lucky for our patients, and all of us that attend burn camp, The Children's Hospital Burn Camp Program is a vibrant aftercare program providing a safe, nuturing place for our burn survivors to continue their healing journey and grow into their best selves.
One of our recent burn ambassadors reflected on her burn camp experience stating" I realize how strong we all are, and how brave I can be." We are indeed stronger together.
I am excited, a bit nervous, and harnessing our patients brave approach as I plan to get back on my road bike after a LONG time of indoor cycling only.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
