It's that time of year again when training begins for the Courage Classic. This will be my third. I was first inspired by my best friends son Brandon Nuechterlein , a PA in the oncology unit at Children's, after he began riding follwing his cancer remission. It wasn't long until his entire family jumped in on the action and became quite accomplished. His little sister "Amber the Amazing" went on to become team captain. I wasn't really a biker when I rode the first but the thought of the kids and families impacted by cancers drove me to become one. As luck would have it my other close friend Arlene Tamariz took me under her wing, gave me a bike to ride and somehow "pulled" me over those 4 passes. The inspiration offered by her and friend Paco (who was also battling cancer) gave my heart the will to pull it off. The rest is history. I was hooked.
Arlene passed last March but not before I made a promise to her to ride the next tour. Her spirit kept me going. As did riding along side Martha Riedel's family, Jared's Google Eyed Warriors, David and the Neuchterleins and many other families impacted by pediatric cancer.
This year we are honoring Trevor Kling, the son of my dear friend David. Trevor would have been 19 this year, but I am sad to say that I never got to meet him. Cancer took him too soon, along with so many others. The emotional and financial toll cancer places on these families is off the charts. We need to change this, and this is why my team raises so much money every year for the Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders at Colorado Children’s Hospital.
With the help of many friends, (THANK YOU!!!!!!!! )
I was able to crush my fundraising goal last year, and I hope we can do that once again in 2023. I’ve re-set my goal to $10,000.00 and have already donated the first $50. Smash that donate button if you want to help!
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also a HUGE OPPORTUNITY to support positive outcomes for kids and families who rely on Children's Colorado for care.
My Team: Wheels of Justice is the largest team riding annually in the Courage Classic, a challenging 2-day bicycle tour, covering 122 miles over multiple mountain passes and a fundraiser benefiting Children's Hospital Colorado. Last year alone our team raised over $650,000 and since inception over $5.6 Million. I am so proud to be part of this team.
All Wheels of Justice Funds go directly to the Children's Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD).
Thank you for your donation... any amount is greatly appreciated!
Together we can accomplish great things......
