We are supporting the Courage Classic for children like Koby.
For the eighth year, we are part of the Wheels of Justice Team, raising funds to support the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Children's Hospital Colorado.
Koby was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor, in March 2016. Our lives were turned upside down, but filled with meaning and grit over the next 23 months. Koby passed away Jan 19, 2018, just seven weeks after his bar mitzvah.
Our family attended the Courage Classic in 2016, and decided to ride together in 2017, 2018, and 2019. It was a highlight for all of us. It was empowering and it was great to be part of such a positive community.
In 2020, the Courage Classic went virtual due to COVID- and Micah took his experience with the Front Rangers youth bike club to create his own local bike ride- the Tour de Koby. We rode 65 miles together- with over 50 friends participating throughout the community.
We did the Tour de Koby again in 2021, and were honored to be in Copper, as our team, the Wheels of Justice, honored Koby at the Courage Classic.
In 2022- we did our longest ride ever- 80 tough miles, led by Micah's dedicated heart and spirit.
Last year I raised almost 20k for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, and I have raised over 50k for the hospital through this ride since 2017.
Looking forward to crushing these goals in 2024!
Here's how you can help:
1) Donate to support Micah, Salomon, or me on our ride
2) Participate in Micah's Tour de Koby this summer- details pending!
3) Join the Courage Classic in Copper this summer!
It's not lost on me, how meaningful it is to ride with Micah and Salo- and share this passion with our amazing teenage son.
Our team, Wheels of Justice, will be honoring a special boy named Will Maniatis, this summer.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
We appreciate your support, in the many ways it comes. If there is any way you can contribute to this ride, and help support the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital of CO, we'd be most appreciative.
I set my goal for $20k, to surpass last year's fundraising. Please donate in any ay that's meaningful for you.
With gratitude,
Melanie
