We all have role models.
My role model is my mother, Dr. Nancy Hadley Miller who practiced orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins for twelve and a half years and is now an Orthopedic surgeon at Children’s Hospital. On top of performing surgery, she has dedicated her lifetime research to the genetic causes of idiopathic scoliosis, one of the most common deformities of the spine in children. Although we have different paths, I have always dreamt of following her footsteps into the world of medicine to help people.
As my role model, my mother’s influence and position as a surgeon introduced me to the world of medicine and more importantly, helping people. This led to volunteering at Children’s Hospital and participating in the Courage Classic. My education then aided me in realizing I have a love for art and design. I shadowed the Marketing and Communications Department at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Children’s Hospital Colorado has a special place close to my heart and I am enthusiastic about this year’s ride. Ride along with me and my powerhouse of a mom this year in support of the Orthopedic Department, team Bony Express.
