My history with Children's Hospital started for me as a young child. I was born with some birth defects that led to my parents making the decision to move from small town Idaho to Denver so we could be close to Children's Hospital. Being close to the hospital allowed me to get the help and support I needed through the early years of my life.
When I was looking to give back several years ago I found the Courage Classic, and have been a volunteer for many years starting in 2011. I volunteer as an Aid Station Volunteer, where we support the riders at various locations around the courses. It is very rewarding to support the riders that are the backbone of this event
The Courage Classic supports many different causes and organizations at Children's Hospital Colorado. The one I have chosen to support is The Rehab Cycling Club!
The Rehab Cycling Club supports the ARCH (Adaptive Recreation for Childhood Health) program. ARCH provides year-round activities for kids with various diagnosis and disabilities to positively impact their successful participation in lifelong recreational activities. Focusing on abilities, the goal is to promote skills that will result in maintaining healthy, active lifestyles.
ARCH depends almost exclusively on fund-raising and donations to provide year-round recreational activities to children and young adults with disabilities. Please join this effort!
I am looking forward to volunteering during the Courage Classic and cheering on the Rehab Cycling Club, and all the amazing riders supporting Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Thanks for you support,
Mike Vail
