This year I am riding in the Courage Classic Bike Ride with the Wheels of Justice team. All funds raised by our team benefit the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD). A cancer diagnosis is life changing event, which is made even worse when that diagnosis is given to a child.
Funds go to general support of the CCBD, but one that I am most passionate about is the mental health support for children and their families. So much about cancer treatment is focused on fixing the physical ailment, but not much emphasis is placed on the mental struggle kids go through. From discovering a new relationship with their own mortality, to watching their friends (and the world) move on without them, cancer treatment can take a huge toll on the mental health of kids. I was a cancer patient at the age of 17, and struggled for years with the impact cancer had on my life and my family. I am so happy CCBD is able to provide support for pediatric cancer patients through the money raised from the Courage Classic.
This 2-day ride traverses 125 miles with 8000' of climbing. The ride is difficult, but far easier than what kids go through every day in their battle with Cancer. If you want to help out with something
