Why I ride??...THE CHILDREN ARE WORTH IT!
This is my 11th year participating in Courage and it is by far one of my favorite weekends of the year! When I was unable to ride, I volunteered, and no matter the role, the bucket filling overflows!
I have had the honor of riding many years for the amazing Cardiac Climbers and Wheels of Justice teams and in 2021 I joined forces with Wheatless Warriors when I began working for the Digestive Health Institute, and my daughter ironically needed to go Gluten Free. I'm committed to growing our Digestive Health Institute Teams and collectively fundraising for each individual divisions financial needs.
Today I ride AS a mother, and FOR my past and present patients Mother’s. I could never in a million years fully comprehend what their heart endures. I'm riding for the Doctors whose research is dedicated to making a better life for our children and all of Pediatric medicine. I ride for my fellow Nurse Practitioners and PA's, who shed so much laughter and tears throughout the years. I'm riding for the bedside nurses who spend half their day caring for someone else's child and the other 12 hours thinking about those same kids.
The jobs in medicine are endless, tireless, occasionally thankless but 100 times over, worth it! (and clearly that pales in comparision to what our families go through). I ride for the memories and the opportunity. I ride for the incredibly humbling experience of being in the mountains, and to teach my children to give back. I ride to heal, I ride for the community of cycling and OUR community in general. I ride...because the children are worth it!
Cheers and THANK YOU for your generous donations! COLLECTIVELY we make change happen!
