Hi! I'm riding the Courage Classic for the tenth time this year! I'm excited to be riding with my team, the Cardiac Climbers and to be paired with little Banks, who has been a Children's Hospital patient since her mother, Ahshleah, was pregnant with her. I learned about Cardiac Climbers because my friends, the Hook family, are members of our team. Their youngest son, Jeremy, had heart surgery a few years ago at Children's and this year he graduated from college and will be starting a career as a middle school music and band teacher. Here is some more information about Banks:
Banks was born in June 2022 at Children’s Hospital Colorado with the diagnosis of Double Inlet Left Ventricle. Her parents found out about Banks's heart defect when Ashleah was 22 weeks pregrant. Ashleah and Banks underwent surgery and the doctors used the Norwood and Glenn procedures to repair Banks's heart in utero.Banks is currently almost almost one year old and Ashleah says she is such a special little girl! I'll be thinking of little Banks as I climb those mountains during the tour and also of the wonderful doctors, nurses, and other staff at Children's Hospital who helped save this beautiful child's life. Please support my ride to bring the same opportunities to other children who need medical assistance from Children's Hospital.
