I ride for my son, Matthew, who was a Colorado Children's Hospital patient for six years as valiant doctor's battled his disease with the latest therapies available at the time. Though we lost Matt to cancer in 2002, I continue to support the hospital and all the great causes it stands for.
You may have noticed my page title, "Matt's Ride." The Courage Classic was Matt's Ride during 2000-2002 when he and I rode for Team Courage, the hospital kids' team of patients who stood out as an example of Courage to all of the other riders. After his passing, we continued to ride in his honor as team "Matt's Ride." Now we ride for "Courage from the Springs," a team representing all of the Colorado Springs teams so we can pool our resources and designate the Colorado Springs Children's Hospital as the place where the funds we raise stay. The Springs hospital opened in 2019, and we're so thankful that kids in Southern Colorado no longer have to commute to Denver like we did for 6 years during Matt's illness--it's a lot of miles and hours saved for families in Southern Colorado. Please donate and support this wonderful cause...
