I am proud to participate in the Courage Classic in memory of Caroline Burke, who was diagnosed shortly after birth with an extremely rare and progressive metabolic disorder. With fewer than 100 reported cases worldwide, her diagnosis brought immense challenges and uncertainty. Yet in her short life, Caroline touched countless people with her strength, resilience, and love.
I had the privilege of being Caroline's caregiver from the time she was discharged from the NICU until her heartbreaking passing in April. Caring for her was one of the greatest gifts of my life, and I will cherish the time we shared forever. Caroline and the Burke family hold a very special place in my heart, and it means so much to me to ride in her honor while supporting the exceptional care that Children's Hospital provided to Caroline and her family.
In addition to caring for Caroline, I also work closely with her pediatrician, Dr. Jody Mathie, as a Medical Assistant at Cherry Creek Pediatrics. Through both of these roles, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that compassionate and specialized pediatric care has on children and their families.
Please help me celebrate Caroline's legacy and support the incredible work of Children's Hospital Colorado so other children and families can receive the same extraordinary care that Caroline did.
