Callie!
I am supporting the Courage Classic for all the kids we take care of at Children's Hospital Colorado. As part of the Cardiac Climbers team, I am riding in honor of a very special kid, Callie!
From Callie's mother:
"Callie was born with what we call a wildflower heart; a little broken, very resilient and beauty that inspires us all. In-between making friends at school, painting, and playing video games with her big brother she has been through three open heart surgeries, many heart cath labs and additional procedures to keep her body healthy.
Because Tetralogy of Fallot has a series of defect, with staged interventions, our journey has brought us bouncing between Children's Hospital and home many times over the years. Callie’s first surgery was at 16 months old that left her on life saving devices, ECMO and Dialysis. In the healing journey we got to celebrate all of her firsts for a second time; first time eating, rolling over, sitting up and so on.
This journey affects the entire family. Healing at a hospital with children
in mind, programs to help support and friends in scrubs who create a
happy healing environment means the world to our family.

As we gear up for our next surgery you can catch us splashing at the pool, enjoying Callie’s first dance class or pushing Callie’s little shopping cart around the hospital. Our wildflower diva is unstoppable."
