I am supporting the Courage Classic for kids like my daughter, Lucy. The Courage Classic is a large biking event this summer in the mountains that is a major fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital Colorado. I, along, with many others will be riding in the event to support the NICU specifically.
In April 2025, Lucy was born at 26 weeks (14 weeks early). Being born so premature, Lucy’s lungs were very undeveloped and were determined to have severe BPD. In addition to her lung issues, Lucy has dealt with various eye, kidney, and even associated heart issues too.
Lucy currently remains in the Children’s NICU and has trach + ventilator. The goal is for her to continue to improve and ultimately to get discharged and come home within 2026.
Despite her countless obstacles, Lucy’s tenacity has propelled her through this journey with unbelievable joy. She’s such a smiley and happy baby.
