I am supporting the Courage Classic for all the Type 1 diabetic children that think they cannot do anything physically important due to their disease.
I met a child at the Tulsa Tough criterium series a few years ago and signed a TNN bottle for him as I was racing for Team Novo Nordisk Pro Cycling at the time. It was Friday night. He came to the next 3 races to cheer me on with his parents. His life is just one of many that are inspired by what we do as active Type 1's. It was one of the most humbling experiences and knowing his life was impacted positively by the experience gave me drive to continue racing.
His name was Thomas. He ended up continuing to high school and becoming the Valedictorian and starting quarterback.
