Hello everyone! I am a nurse in the Heart Institute at CHCO. This year I am very excited to be riding the Courage Classic for Tate!
Tate Fisher has Ebsteins Anomaly, SVT which he has a pacemaker for, he also has a PDA Stent, Glenn Shunt. He also had to take regular medications. The next time he will need any type of surgery he will be 2 to 3 years old unless he present any new symptoms that he will need it sooner!!
Here is a little information on Ebstein Anomaly:
Ebstein anomaly is a rare heart condition that's present at birth. That means it's a congenital heart defect.
In this condition, the valve that separates the top and bottom right heart chambers does not form correctly. This valve is called the tricuspid valve. As a result, the valve does not close as it should. Blood moves backward from the bottom to top chamber, making it harder for the heart to work. In people with Ebstein anomaly, the heart can grow larger. The condition can lead to heart failure.
Thank you in advance for your help and support!
