For over 3 years I have worked in a PICU setting and have seen children fight diagnoses no one should ever receive. I have learned that the pediatric population is more resilient than most adults I know and the joy that they still carry in the midst of their pain emphasizes the strength that child-like joy can bring.
I have been honored to see and be involved in the care of patients receiving liver and kidney transplants. I have sat with parents through a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis or watching their kid role back up on ECMO. I have witnessed parents staying by their child's side each hour and I have seen children face the hospital where the staff is there only support. I am so proud to work somewhere that offers such advanced care to kids in a multistate region and could not imagine working in any other career.
Two of my passions are cycling and working in pediatrics. Courage Classic is a way for me to use my love for riding as a way to fundraise for this incredible hospital. I will be riding 80 miles the first day and 60 miles the next day through gorgeous Colorado and would love your support of me through this journey. One thing this job reminds me is to never take my body for granted and I am beyond blessed to have the strength to set out for a weekend such as this.
