It’s hard to put in to words what the last year+ has been like. NICU life is a trip…I don’t wish it on anyone. With it has come the most pain and fear I’ve ever felt. And yet, it’s also brought moments of joy we didn’t think we would feel and people who are now forever our family. When one of our favorite nurse practitioners came to us and said “I’m riding in this bike ride and I wanted to know if I could do it in honor of Lucy”, I (after I gained control of my tears and took a breath), said yes and asked “how do we sign up”. So here we are. Me, Tyler, and Lincoln (!!!), along with other friends and family, will be riding in the Courage Classic in July, in Copper Mountain, to raise money for Children’s Hospital Colorado NICU. We ride not only for Lucy, but for the future Lucys so that they can be blessed by the people, resources, research, and care that Lucy has been able to receive during the worst and hardest time of her life.
