I am riding in the Courage Classic for kids like Abbie!
Abbie’s heart journey began in 2017 when she was diagnosed with the rare congenital heart defect, Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries. After experiencing a serious cardiac event just months later, she underwent three major heart surgeries between the ages of 2 and 5, including one during the height of COVID. Through every challenge, Abbie showed extraordinary strength and resilience while continuing to embrace the joys of childhood through swimming, basketball, baking with grandma, and laughter with friends. Earlier this year, after surviving a devastating car accident that caused life-threatening injuries to her heart, Abbie once again demonstrated incredible courage during her recovery at Children’s Colorado. What began as a journey filled with uncertainty, fear, and heartbreak has become one defined by healing, hope, gratitude, and a deeper appreciation for life’s precious moments. Abbie remains our warrior, our hope, and the light that guides us every day.
