Each day at Children's Hospital Colorado, I have the privilege of working alongside some of the strongest people I know—children facing complex medical challenges and the families who support them through every step of their journey. Whether recovering from heart surgery, learning to move again after a prolonged hospitalization, or overcoming obstacles that most of us cannot imagine, these patients demonstrate extraordinary courage, resilience, and determination.
This year, I am proud to ride with the Cardiac Climbers team, specifically in honor of Dulce. Dulce's family shared, "Dulce was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. She underwent her three Fontan surgeries and had a heart transplant in September of 2025. Dulce Magaly passed away on the 29th of May. She will always be remembered for her incredible bravery and strength, her spunk and her beautiful essence. She will forever be loved and missed." As I ride for Dulce, I will be reminded that my physical challenges are small in comparison to those that Dulce and her family face with unwavering strength and love.
The funds raised through the Courage Classic help provide life-changing care, innovative therapies, groundbreaking research, and essential family support services that make a difference for children across Colorado and beyond.
