I am supporting the Children's Hospital of Colorado, by participating in the Courage Classic with the Headwaters Group cycling team, for kids like Caroline.
Caroline Catherine Burke is the late daughter of Headwaters Group managing partner Ben Burke and his wife Annie. Shortly after birth in January 2025, Caroline spent nearly two months in the NICU at Children’s Hospital Colorado under the care of an incredible team of doctors, nurses, and specialists. There, Caroline was diagnosed with an ultra-rare, progressive metabolic disorder that currently has fewer than 100 cases ever reported worldwide and no cure. Despite Caroline’s poor prognosis and the initial devastation of this news, the ongoing support from CHOC specialists enabled Caroline’s family to bring her home, introduce her to their community, and shower her with immense love and comfort for fifteen months. Caroline passed away on April 11, 2026 and is missed beyond belief every single day. Without the amazing resources at Children’s Hospital of Colorado, Caroline’s family would not have been blessed with over a year’s worth of memories together that will be forever cherished.
We would greatly appreciate support for team ‘Headwaters for Caroline’ in the form of a donation toward Children’s Hospital of Colorado. This year, our Headwaters Group fundraising goal is $50,000 and any amount, large or small, will help us reach that. While we hope these funds can assist research efforts and finding a cure to rare diseases like Caroline’s, we also know how far this money will go at Children’s Hospital today, providing support for families to give their medically complex children the very best life possible.
