It’s that time of year again! I’m getting back in the saddle for my 3rd Courage Classic to raise money for Children’s Hospital Colorado.
As some of you might remember, last year my bike gathered a lot of dust while I was busy trying to remember how legs work after tearing my ACL. But I’ve officially traded my physical therapy sessions for cycling adventures, and I’m ready for my big comeback. Think of it as a Phoenix rising from the ashes, just with more spandex and slightly more creaking joints.
On a more serious note, I’m riding because the need is greater than ever. At a national level, funding for pediatric healthcare is facing significant hurdles, leaving a gap that hospitals like ours have to fill. Children’s Colorado is the only nonprofit pediatric hospital in a seven-state region, and we rely on fundraisers like this to ensure that every child—from those needing routine care to the sickest patients in our PICU—receives the best possible treatment regardless of their family’s financial situation.
