I am riding in the Colorado Children’s Hospital fundraising bike event “The Courage Classic” as part of the Children’s One Flight Team.
As a pilot with the Children’s One Critical Care Transportation Team, we travel to mostly rural hospitals that have reached their limit of care. Our team is highly skilled and has transported Neo-natal pre-mature babies as small as 500 grams to teen-age burn victims. We are a mobile (N)ICU.
I ride for this charity because I see the relief on the faces of parents and hospital staff when our medical team arrives to prepare the patient for transport. They know that patient has a chance and will soon arrive at a higher-level care facility. We are their hope on their worst day and I am honored to ride and fly for this team and the charity.
