I am riding in the Courage Classic for kids like Cooper Deming, for his parents, and for the incredible community here in NW Denver that is home to us all.
Cooper should be graduating from college right now, 2 years ahead of my older son, Michael. But he passed away 9 years ago from brain cancer. WTF. WTAF.
When I was graduating from college myself and trying to decide what I was going to do with myself, I came to the conclusion (pretty obvious to my professors) that I was not cut out to be a brilliant scientist.
But I CAN gut out an 80 mile ride over the Continental Divide. And I CAN raise some money to help the smarty pants scientists while I'm doing it. Or, at least I could when I was on the other side of 55.
So please, dig deep, dig often, dig early so that I can't chicken out.
