I ride to give hope to Children’s Hospital Colorado patients like Eddie!
Per Eddie's parents, "he is a living miracle. He was diagnosed with Ebstein anomaly after he was born, then flown to children’s hospital Colorado where he spent his 1st two months intubated in the CICU. He was inpatient at children’s for 7 1/2 months (229 days) total. In his 2nd week there he was also diagnosed with severe left ventricle dysfunction and was then added to the heart transplant waiting list. Eddie was on the transplant list for 6 1/2 months but was doing so well that the team decided to trial weaning him off of milrinone and see if his heart function could stay stable on just oral heart medication. Steady Eddie then showed everyone just how strong he is and has been doing great on oral heart meds only and finally got to come home!"
Riding for Eddie is particularly meaningful for me as I have had the privilege of being intimately involved in his care through his diagnosis to his eventual discharge. Eddie, and his parents, demonstrated incredible strength and resiliency throughout his hospital stay and I feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to be part of his journey.
I could not be more proud to represent Eddie this year during the Courage Classic!
