Madi B, Children's Colorado Congenital Heart Disease Patient
Madison “Madi B” was born with HLHS with heterotaxy on October 20th, 2017. Her family relocated to Colorado from New Mexico so she could receive the care she would need from Children's Hospital Colorado. She is the youngest of four children. Madi endured a lot in her short life. Open heart surgery, A round of ECMO, multiple blood clots, frequent fluid retention and so much more. She saw almost every specialist in the hospital because she was so unique. She spent 75% of her time in the hospital on a ventilator. The week of Thanksgiving she was able to wean off the ventilator and her family got to hold her for 5 days before she would decline and have to be placed on the ventilator again. After 41 days of battling congenital heart disease, Madi’s parents decided to take her off the ventilator. Madi passed away on November 30th, 2017 in her father’s arms. She never got to leave the hospital. She only got to meet one of her siblings. She is deeply missed and forever loved. Madi may have been on this earth for a short time but she always sends a bee to say hi. We call them Madi winks.
