I ride for my 5-year-old thriving survivor, Drake, and his two brothers, Mack and Theo.
Drake was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) at just six weeks old.
This year was the first time Drake set foot in the survivorship clinic. It was a dream Steph and I talked about on long nightly texting sessions during Drake’s treatment. It was the closest they ever got to telling us we would never have to go through that again. “He’s not a cancer patient- he’s a person that had cancer.”
This year we ride for the SURVIVORS. You deserve this. There will be bumps along the way and you will have visible and invisible scars forever.
Get your hopes up and keep them there. Parents of cancer survivors- you are on my mind every day!
