Dear Family and Friends,
In six weeks, I will be squeezing into the Lycra again for the 2026 Courage Classic - one of the biggest and most fun ways to support Children’s Hospital Colorado. It’s an honor to serve as the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, now in my sixth year. ‘Courage’, as we call it, is an annual reminder of the ‘why’ behind the job.
Hundreds of miles of riding and many thousands of feet of climbing in some of Colorado’s finest country. All to honor the bravery of the patients and families that we serve, many of whom will be riding alongside.
We are lucky to have one of the best kids’ hospitals in the nation right here. Our hospital serves children from the entire state and well beyond - just the other day, I was performing endoscopic procedures and took care of patients from New Mexico, Wyoming, and Texas in addition to Colorado - all in a single afternoon.
I hope you will consider supporting my ride - and the hospital - this year. All funds supporting me will go to our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s - a 48 bed unit that serves the very sickest children in the region. In this time of significant Federal cuts to Medicaid (which insures nearly half of our patients), your support will make a big difference.
Thanks,
David
