Hi! I'm Mike Frazzini and this is my sixth year riding for the Cardiac Climbers in the Children's Hospital Colorado Courage Classic. This year I will be riding for Salem and Luci! Here is their amazing and courageous story (as provided by their mom, Kallie):
"Salem and Luci are my sweet, intelligent, sassy, and goofy identical twins. Salem and Luci were diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy due to a genetic mutation when they were 1 month old. Due to this genetic mutation both girls also have low muscle tone which means physical activities are difficult for them. Salem has left vocal cord paralysis due to being intubated in an emergency situation when she was 1 month old which caused the vocal cord damage. Luci has frontal lobe damage due to lack of oxygen to the brain at some point during the month prior to learning about her CHD journey. Salem and Luci are now 6 years old and are living happy lives with their big sister Mavis and fluffy cat, Cheese. They do have learning delays, physical delays, and deal with medical issues every day of their lives, which can put an impact on being a kid and keeping up with the other kids. Salem and Luci have handled every situation with a brave attitude and a few jokes. There is no cure for Dilated Cardiomyopathy and it is something they will live with forever. Everyone in their family looks at them with such admiration and joy. They truly are the light that is breaking dawn!"
I ride and fundraise in honor of patients like Salem and Luci and the countless children and families impacted by congenital heart disease. I am so inspired and in awe of the bravery of all of these wonderful kids, and by the dedication and care of the amazing Children's Hospital team! Go Cardiac Climbers!
