Over the past decade, I have had the incredible privilege of caring for some of the smallest and strongest patients as both a NICU nurse and now a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. This year marks an exciting milestone as I celebrate my first year as an NNP and graduate from my fellowship program. While my role has evolved, one thing has never changed—my heart will always belong to the NICU and to the babies and families who have trusted me during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
That is why I am proud to once again ride in the Courage Classic to support the NICU and Children’s Hospital Colorado—an organization that has truly been my home for nearly a decade. I’ll be riding 120 miles over two days through the beautiful mountains surrounding Copper Mountain alongside my incredible team, Spinning Spokes for the Littlest Folks.
This year’s ride is especially meaningful. I am dedicating my ride to Preston, a sweet little boy whom I had the privilege of caring for for more than a year. Preston touched the hearts of everyone who knew him with his strength, resilience, and unforgettable spirit. Although he is no longer with us, his impact will never be forgotten. Every climb, every mile, and every challenge on this ride will be in honor of Preston and the incredible courage he showed throughout his journey. I know he’ll be riding with me every step of the way.
This will also be my seventh Courage Classic. For the sixth year, I’ll be riding alongside my dad, Jeffrey—a tradition that means more to me than I can put into words. This year is even more special because my little sister, Karissa, will be joining us for the first time as she rides in the Day 2 Family Ride to support our NICU team and help raise funds for Children’s Hospital Colorado. Sharing this experience with both of them makes this year’s ride even more meaningful, and I couldn’t be more excited to have the three of us riding together for a cause so close to our hearts.
Every mile we ride represents so much more than a bike ride. It is a tribute to babies like Preston, to the families who show unimaginable strength, and to the dedicated healthcare teams who care for these incredible children every day. Your generosity helps provide life-saving care, groundbreaking research, family support services, and hope for the tiniest fighters.
Thank you for supporting this cause that means so much to me. Whether you choose to donate, ride, volunteer, or simply cheer us on, your encouragement makes a lasting difference for the babies and families we serve.
