Our family is excited to announce that we are again riding the COURAGE CLASSIC BIKE TOUR in JULY 2026 ~ it will be our 9th year!
As many of you know, at 20 weeks gestation - I found out I was having a baby with Spina Bifida. My son, Reed experiences on a daily basis the obstacles that go with having SB. He has had to learn to live with mulitple conditions such as hydrocephalus, diminished sensation,
bladder and bowel complications, learning disabilities, latex allergy
and paralysis in his legs make walking now impossible, as well as social issues. In his 21 years of life, Reed has had 18 surgeries - ALL at Childrens Hospital of Colorado - the most challenging being bladder reconstruction, shunt revisions and Spinal Fusion. Our recent struggle is ongoing skin breakdown and joing contractures due to becoming a full time wheelchair since COVID.
INSPITE OF ALL THAT, Reed has brought blessings and taught an abundance of life's lessons to all who know him. He is the most fun-loving, all accepting, adventurous, honest, creative, sensitive person I know!
What a great way to raise much needed funding to benefit Children's Hospital of Colorado - the only Children’s Hospital serving not only CO but the surrounding states as well, Together, we can build up better healthcare for kids like Reed. I am thrilled to be participating in the COURAGE CLASSIC with the Courage from the Springs Team again this year and train next to Reed on his tandem bike. Look for us out on the roads in Colorado Springs as we gear up to have another fantastic ride!
