The last time I rode the Courage Classic was pre-COVID in 2019. Sophia was 16 and still a high school student. Now she is 23 and has just graduated from Regis University with certificates in advocacy and communications as well as health and exercise science.
Congratulations Sophia! In your honour, I will dust off my cycling shoes, oil my chain, and get training for the Courage Classic 2026. Even the heart attack I had three years ago has not stopped me signing up to ride the 80-mile route on July 18!
Over the years Sophia has benefitted hugely from the excellent medical care provided by the Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. The Sie Center is now one of the largest in the world with over 2700 patients. We are so incredibly fortunate to have such a facility in our State!
Our Dare to Ride Team is committed to supporting Dr. Nicole Baumer and her team at the Sie Center. Please join us by making a donation in honour of Sophia and all these amazing children and young adults!
