Why we ride
This year we are riding the Courage Classic once again. By now, most of you know about our son Owen's heart problems since birth and how he has been progressing over the years.
This past September, Owen had his 3rd open heart surgery, this time around to replace his bovine pulmonary valve to a brand new HUMAN fully grown adult pulmonary valve. Owen's heart is now functioning with a valve that allows him to keep up with his vascular needs and do sports, including his passion: hockey, at his highest possible level.
Going through something like what Owen and the whole family went through, made us realize how many people are in need on a daily basis, and how important it is to have the medical support that Children's Hospital provides relentlessly. This Hospital makes miracles on a daily basis. Owen is our miracle. And this is why the Courage Classic has become a family event that means so much to us. We feel blessed to be part of the Cardiac Climbers Team and to have the opportunity to make a difference through our riding efforts
How could we not participate in this event to help this hospital create many more wonderful life saving miracles?
Each Hospital stay, and visit, reminds us of how much we owe to this wonderful institution that has supported our family and Owen in particular for so long. It is only logical that we would want to give back and help raise funds to be able to pay it forward.
We know that there are many different great causes that you can donate to, so we thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts, if you decide to make a donation to our ride for Children's Hospital Colorado. Together we can make a difference! Together we can impact so many little lives! Let's do it! We will be forever grateful for your generosity!
