From the Swing Family: "Sylas' heart journey starting with a typical 21 week pregnancy ultrasound in New Mexico. He was diagnosed with left aortic valve stenosis, even before birth. An in-utero procedure to open his aortic valve was done after a whirlwind trip to UCSF in San Francisco. On January 22, 2016 a super heart hero was born at Children's Hospital Colorado. Sylas Dean Swingle's heart was strong and off to a good start. At 4 months old, Sylas was having issues holding down food, breathing and gaining weight. Off to Colorado we go to see the team at CHCO. Our lives completely changed for the better when cardiac transplant took over care for Sylas and took our family under their wings. On August 2nd, 2016 Sylas was put on the heart transplant list due to unfixable heart damage caused by the pooled blood before the in-utero procedure to open his valve. On August 23, 2016 Sylas and our family received the best gift possible, a new heart for Sylas. It doesn't seem that long ago, but 10 whole amazing and blessed years have gone by. Sylas' heart is doing great and after a very hard winter with some medical set backs, Sylas is a growing, caring, smart, funny, sport playing and all around awesome heart hero! There is one person in particular that has been with us the whole time, being Sylas' caretaker, advocate and our family superstar...thank you Carrie! "
I ride for kids like Sylas, who show courage every day. Thank you for donating so Sylas can get the care he needs, providing hope for his future. Rob
