Carter's story and a 2026 update
2026 update from Carter's parents:
Carter is 21 years old now! Carter is doing great! He is finishing up his junior year of college and enjoying life! He is excelling at college and is really excited to have a future job in law enforcement. We enjoyed a family trip last year to Disney World which was a definite highlight of the year for him. Carter still has a great attitude at life and is the most fun person to be around! We are grateful everyday that Carter is cancer free!
Carter's Story:
Carter was diagnosed with T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia with CNS involvement on April 30, 2013 (the top left picture shows the day he and his family first heard the news). He went through treatment for 3.5 years, which included chemo injections into his spinal fluid, radiation to his brain, lumbar punctures, and even a butterfly needle in his chest that sent medicine through his heart. Despite the pain, he never stopped fighting and smiling (the top row of pictures). That was then—this is now, and WOW (pictures on the bottom left/right and the picture near the bottom right with his family)! He loves to help people and has so much compassion; he’ll do great in his field. Watching him reach milestones makes his parents’ hearts so happy. Carter is still in remission, woohoo, while being watched by the Children’s Hospital HOPE Clinic. He does have some late effects from treatment, but he won’t let anything stop him and still has a positive attitude. His parents are so proud of him!
Becky makes it a point to dedicate her Courage Classic ride each year to honor Carter. We’re so grateful to Carter’s parents for their incredible support of Becky’s Courage Classic ride for Children’s Hospital Colorado, CCBD, which is a wonderful way to celebrate Carter and all the other children battling cancer.
You’re truly making a difference in his life and the lives of other kids battling this terrible disease.
