My name is Lucas von Alvensleben, I am 11 years old, and I am riding the Courage Classic in support of the amazing Cooper Adams! My dad works at Children's Hospital Colorado and has been taking care of Cooper for many years. He has even ridden in the Courage Classic for Cooper and I have gotten to meet him when his family visited. This year, I wanted to ride the 40 mile distance and Cooper said it was okay for me to ride for him. I am so excited! Thank you so much for supporting me and Cooper this year!

Cooper and his parents sent over this message to tell you more about his story.
"Cooper collapsed in wrestling practice on Wednesday Feb 26, 2020. His coaches and teacher were directly involved with CPR and the use of the AED to save Cooper's life. I am also an employee of the district and teach and coach with everyone that had hand in this. There were many other USD273 employees, including the office girls, school counselor, and athletic director involved behind the scenes with contacting us and keeping the situation under control and we've been told it was so smoothly executed in every way. The stars were aligned for Cooper that day and we hate to think about if this would have happened in any other location at any other time of day. He was taken to our local hospital that provided nothing but the best care, as always. He was flown to Via Christi in Wichita, where we stayed for a few days. While we are grateful most testing has come back normal, we still have no clear answer as to why this happened. They have their suspicions, and in order to better figure things out we will be leaving for Denver's Children's Mercy Hospital for further testing. Cooper is in good spirits, feels "just fine mom" and is eating like the average 16 year boy does and we are so thankful for this. They have called him a "MIRACLE CHILD" and we know, with 100% certainty, without the quick thinking and acting of the USD 273 staff, the outcome would have been much different. We are forever and ever humbly grateful. We now know that Cooper has CPVT and has a pacemaker and ICD implanted. Our lives were forever changed that day, but we still have Cooper here with us by the grace of God and all of those that prayed and acted on his behalf."
