Hi Friends and Family!!!
Currently, I am working at the CICU at Children's Hospital Colorado, and have decided this year to partake in the 2025 Courage Classic. Taking place from July 19-20, the Courage Classic is a two-day annual bike event through the Rocky Mountains seeking to raise money for Children's Hospital Colorado. This year, I am dedicating every mile to Elias Soliman! Below is Elias' story as told by his mom Katie:
"This little heart warrior, Elias was born prematurely at 33 weeks. Originally his due date was May 18th, 2025; however, he decided to make a grand entrance on April 4th, 2025. Before he was born, we knew he had a congenital heart condition known as an atrioventricular septal defect associated with Tetralogy of Fallot. Atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD). Elias currently has a RVOT stent in his heart to help improve blood flow. This will help him to grow until he is able to have his full TOF and AVSD repair.
Besides his heart condition, Elias was also born with Pierre Robin syndrome. This syndrome or sequence is a condition that affects a baby’s jaw, tongue, and breathing abilities. Elias underwent a surgery referred to as a mandibular distraction in which the lower jaw was lengthened to help move the tongue forward and open up his airway.
Despite the constant fear, uncertainty, pain, and anxiety that comes with being in the hospital for such an extended period of time, Elias received the absolute best and most amazing care from the doctors, surgeons, therapy providers and nurses. Everyone was so compassionate, supportive, and loving to not only to my son, but to myself, my husband, and to our extended family. I will forever be grateful to the Children’s Hospital Heart Institute for everything they did and will continue to do to help Elias grow and thrive so that he can be home for some time with his family before his full heart repair.
Elias truly is a fighter and is already such a tough and strong little boy whose strength is inspiring every single day." ❤
I have the privilege of riding for an amazing and resilient kiddo who has surpassed every obstacle he has faced. I am so fortunate to have to come to know him and his family. Please consider donating to the Courage Classic to benefit kids like Elias. Thank you!!
