I am supporting the Courage Classic for all the children and parents who need their care.
I had a good friend whose son was born prematurely in 2017 and spent a few months in the NICU at Children’s Hospital. He was given less than 1% chance of survival and a 90% chance that he would ever walk, talk, eat or breath on his own. I went to visit her and her precious baby and it was amazing to see the level of technology, care, professionalism and support that’s at the beautiful hospital. Her son had amazing doctors, nurses, OT, PT and more that helped him get home and where he is today. He spent the first few years of his life with a G-tube that my friend and her spouse had to manage at home to provide him with nutrition. While he still has his G-tube, it hasn’t been used for nutrition for a long time and they hope to have it removed soon. He is now thriving as a 7-year old who loves soccer, baseball, swimming, camping, superheroes, the color red, and eating breakfast for dinner!
I’ve also been donating blood to Children’s Hospital about 4-5 times per year since about 2022. They are so accommodating to the fact that I am allergic to Chloraprep, which is used to clean your arm prior to the needling being inserted. They gladly use old school iodine even though it adds a few minutes to the process. Since I’m O+ I’m hoping my blood is able to help children who need it.
