I am supporting the Courage Classic for all of the families that depend on the care provided by Children's Hospital Colorado and so that if I ever need those services for my kids, they will be available.
Courage Classing info:
Founded in 1990, the Courage Classic Bicycle Tour is the single largest gathering of people coming together to raise money for Children’s Colorado, while honoring the kids we treat. To date, the Courage Classic has raised more than $50 million for Children’s Colorado. This inspiring community is made up of grateful Children’s Colorado patients and families, dedicated caregivers from the hospital and the community, loyal donors, who believe in our mission, committed volunteers, and corporate partners, investing in kids’ health in the places they do business. With each pedal of the wheel over the course of the two-day tour, 2,000 riders – supported by 300 volunteers - cycle through the beautiful Rocky Mountains and turn resilience and strength into optimism and action.
This year, the Community Health and Advocacy team will ride for the first time in the Courage Classic. By donating to our team, you will help us to achieve our goal of $50,000, which will directly fund our essential services impacting thousands of families in our Colorado communities.
- Health Navigation: Helping families to overcome barriers that prevent access to their medical care
- Car Seats: Ensuring safe travel for families in need
- Nutritious Groceries: One bag can feed a family of 10 for a week
- Legal Support Services: Helping families navigate medical and social challenges
- School Nurse Training: Equipping schools to care for children with special health needs
- In-Home Asthma Management: Keeping children safe and comfortable at home
- In-School Dental Screenings: Offering essential care for kids without insurance
If we do not reach our goal, your generous donation will still support the needs of Children’s Hospital Colorado’s patients and families through the general fund.
Patient highlight, Forest:
Forest's parents Gladys and Casey knew they would be spending a few weeks at Children's Hospital Colorado after his birth in 2016, far away from their home in Montana. In utero, Forest was diagnosed with heart defects that would require open heart surgery at 7 days old. What they didn't see coming was Forest's rare diagnosis of CHARGE syndrome, a craniofacial disorder that, among other symptoms, sometimes caused Forest to stop breathing. Forest and his parents spent the first six months of his life in the Cardiac ICU at Children's Colorado.
In 2019, Gladys and Casey made the difficult decision to move to Colorado to be closer to the expert care at Children's Colorado. During that time, Courage Classic team members began riding in honor of Forest, and Casey began riding himself in 2020. At the 2024 Courage Classic, Casey crossed the finish line with seven-year-old Forest riding right behind him—an unforgettable moment made possible by the caregivers at Children's Hospital Colorado.
