In 2019, I had the opportunity to bike 4500 miles from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK alongside 80 incredible teammates through a non-profit called Texas 4000 with the mission to raise funds for cancer research and support services. Along the way, we shared stories, raised awareness about cancer prevention, and forged powerful connections with communities across the U.S. and Canada. Since that ride, I have gotten to care for truly courageous and inspiring kids battling cancer and blood disorders during my medical training. I ride for my loved ones, my T4K teammates, the loved ones they rode for, the communities we connected with, and all families at CHCO affected by cancer and blood disorders.
One of the most rewarding parts of being a resident at CHCO is the opportunity to care for children across a wide range of specialties--from Hospital Medicine and Emergency Medicine to the PICU, NICU, Hematology/Oncology and Pulmonology services. Every day, I witness the unwavering dedication and compassion our teams bring to our patients and their families and I'm continually inspired by my co-residents and the impact we make together! This year, I'm incredibly proud to ride in the Courage Classic with our resident team, Wheely Tired Residents. I ride for the hard work residents do as the backbone of our hospital to provide positive outcomes for families and brighter, healthier futures for the kids we serve.
