I ride to give hope to Children’s Hospital Colorado patients like William and his brother Weston.
At 10 days old, Will's parents took him to the pediatrician as they were concerned about his deep, fast breathing. His blood oxygen level was very low so he was rushed to the ER at Children's Hospital Colorado for further evaluation. Two days later, Will had heart surgery to repair a coarctation of his aorta. Thanks to the fantastic care of the Heart Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado, Will gets to live a normal life and is doing great!
Fast forward 3 years later: Will's baby brother Weston had an echocardiogram to evaluate his heart shortly after his birth. Much to his parents' surprise, Weston had a milder version of a coarctation, similar to his big brother. Thankfully Weston is doing well and has not needed cardiac surgery. He will continue to be followed by the Cardiology team at Children's Colorado as he grows.
The Courage Classic is an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for kids like Will & Weston.
