This year, I am dedicating my bike ride to Allyson - the coolest, spunkiest, and best ”Hamilton” rapping teenager I know. I first met Allyson (and sang Hamilton with her!) at a camp for heart kids last summer and have since had the honor to care for her in the hospital. Allyson’s smile lights every room she is in and her comedic, quick witted replies keeps everyone laughing. Her bravery, spunk, and strength as she climbs her heart journey inspires me to push myself and keep biking up the literal mountain. It is no coincidence that the only music I listen to while biking is the Hamilton soundtrack.
Please donate to my ride for Allyson - your money will help support patients, including Allyson, in the Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
From Tiffany (Allyson’s mom): ”Born in 2012 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), Allyson has demonstrated remarkable strength from the start. Thanks to advancements in cardiac research and the dedicated training of medical professionals, Allyson was able to undergo three crucial surgeries that helped sustain her small heart. When she was thirteen, she was placed on the heart transplant list, and on May 5th, 2025, she received the extraordinary gift of a new heart. Throughout her journey, the psychosocial support Allyson has received has been invaluable, helping her navigate the mental and emotional challenges that accompany a congenital heart defect and the continuous medical care it demands.
Allyson finds joy in dancing and singing, especially to musicals like Hamilton, and cherishes time with her best friend, who shares an understanding of living with HLHS. The staff at Children's Hospital Colorado has become a cherished and deeply appreciated part of our family, as we walk alongside Allyson as she goes through her heart journey. Her courage and love for life shine as brightly as her smile, inspiring all who know her.”
Thank you for your support!!
