For the last two years, I've participated in the Courage Classic Bicycle Tour to raise money for Children's Hospital Colorado patients and families. 2023 I raised $500. 2024 I raised $750. And this year I'm hoping to raise $1000!
While I'm not riding for any specific child, I'm riding because I want to help ensure healthier futures for kids.
This will be the third year that I've set an ambitious goal to ride the long course on Day 1--that means 83 miles and 6000 feet of elevation. Here in Colorado, we refer to it as the Copper Triangle--from Copper Mountain to Leadville, to Vail and back over Vail Pass to Copper.
Training is going well this year and being on my bike, frequently riding alone with lots of time to ponder, I think a lot about what it means to do hard things. Thank you, Glennon Doyle--yes, we can do hard things! But riding a big, hard ride is a choice. Kids and families being treated at Children's don't usually have a choice about the challenges they face.
